Cervical Dystonia
Cervical dystonia is a condition that causes neck muscles to tighten into an unnatural position, forcing your head to tilt to the left, right front or back. There is sometimes a characteristic tremor involving the head or neck and an asymmetrical posture. It may inhibit you from driving a car or performing other ordinary activities requiring turning the head.
Signs and symptoms

- Muscle spasm or tightness, with or without pain
- Head turning, pulling, or shifting to one side
- Shaking or tremor
- Problems swallowing
Why it hurts:
Muscles go into a spasm because they lose the ability to relax.
