Joan Frost
Joan Frost’s personal experience with recurring back pain as a dancer led her to study the Alexander Technique, which teaches individuals to move in a more natural, relaxed and comfortable way. As her pain abated, Ms. Frost felt called to teach the Alexander Technique to others. She enrolled in an intensive three-year training program at The American Center for the Alexander Technique (ACAT) in New York City, which adheres to the high international standards of 1600 hours of training set by The American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT). She earned her certification in 1983.
Prior to joining SPINE OPTIONS, Ms. Frost served as Director of Teacher Certification at ACAT, where she has been on the senior faculty for the past 22 years. Additionally, Joan has been on the faculties of The Juilliard School’s dance and drama divisions, Sarah Lawrence College, The New School, and the Diller Quaille School of Music. A founding member of AmSAT, she has been a presenter for The Arthritis Foundation since 2001.
